What do you think is the first step to starting a podcast? If you thought, buying a microphone or hitting record, you’re wrong.
That was a little harsh. You can absolutely start there if you want to, but I think you’re doing yourself a disservice if you haven’t dug into the backbone of your podcast.
What do I mean?
Consider this, why are you starting your podcast in the first place? What role will it play in your business, marketing, and lead generation? What content are you trying to share? What message is on your heart to send out into the world?
These are the deeper questions you need to answer. Why? Because podcasting, when used for business, is a long game strategy for nurturing relationships and building authority. The key words there are “long” and “game.”
At some point you will want to quit podcasting. However, when you’ve dialed in the reason behind your podcast, who you’re serving, what content you’re offering, and how you’re showing up, it’ll be much easier to either push through OR adjust, without full on quitting.
If you haven’t already thought of these core pieces, listen in and get clear on the mindset for your podcast. This is seriously a key component of staying on track week after week, month after month, year after year as you grow!
